I send out my newsletter today without presuming to have any answers or groundbreaking insights. What I have is an awareness that the privilege to have you as my audience brings the expectation to not email you without acknowledging the world is on fire when it is.

This newsletter is about shopping, yes– but it’s also about what I’ve seen and discovered each week that I find worthy enough to share with you. It would be disingenuous (apart from overly tone deaf) to gloss over the worthiest takeaway of the previous week: the systemic racism in our country that continues to perpetuate injustices toward Black communities exists, is absolutely tragic, and must end.

So how do I reconcile the responsibility I have to use this platform for good with the very real fact that I’m unsure of how best do that the “right way”? By proceeding with zero certainty about the correctness of my approach, but nevertheless proceeding. It’s not enough to embark on the road to becoming “anti-racist” - it’s about remaining on the road even when you’re not familiar with the route.

This week’s Note incorporates many products (20 total) that support Black, Indigenous and People of Color (BIPOC). It’s long overdue. I still have so much to learn and so much work to do – but for now (for today) I offer you these new (around here) brands and my steadfast support.

Keep your pedals to the metal,

Natalie
